Why Prepare for Ramadan?
Ramadan is the holiest month in Islam — the month the Quran was revealed, in which the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and rewards are multiplied immeasurably. The companions of the Prophet ﷺ would make dua six months in advance to reach Ramadan.
Spiritual Preparation
- Make sincere Tawbah (repentance) — enter Ramadan with a clean slate
- Increase Quran recitation in Sha'ban — use our Quran Reader to build the habit now
- Set clear spiritual goals: How many Juz' will you complete? How many Tarawih nights will you attend?
- Make dua to reach Ramadan — the du'a of the Salaf: "O Allah, allow us to reach Ramadan."
- Begin increasing dhikr — use our Dhikr Counter to build a consistent habit
Physical Preparation
- Gradually adjust your sleep schedule to accommodate Suhoor (pre-dawn meal)
- Reduce caffeine intake two weeks before Ramadan to avoid withdrawal headaches
- Practice voluntary fasts in Sha'ban — Mondays, Thursdays, or the white days — to prepare your body
- Plan healthy Suhoor options in advance: slow-release foods like oats, eggs, and fruit

The Last 10 Nights
Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power) is hidden within the last 10 nights of Ramadan, most likely on an odd night (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th). This single night is better than 1,000 months of worship (Quran 97:3). Maximise these nights with prayer, dua, Quran, and seeking forgiveness.
